Commonwealth Games 2010
Delhi will be hosting Commonwealth Games in October this year. In view of this big sporting event, the city is being given a facelift by the government and its infrastructure is being further augmented. Roads have been laid fresh, malls have been decorated, security is being enhanced, tourist destinations have been made more people friendly and several new hotels and stadiums have also been built in the city. Hospital services and civic facilities have been enhanced to meet any emergency requirement.
Climate
The weather of the Delhi remains pleasant for most part of the year. Its temperature varies between 04 degree Celsius in winters to about 46 degrees Celsius in summers. However, these extremes of temperatures are experienced on very few days in the whole year. For majority of days of the year, the temperature remains around a pleasant 25 degrees Celsius. Winter season remains between the months of October to February while summer starts from May and ends in August. Remaining months of the year experience monsoon showers, spring, autumn etc.
How to Reach Delhi
You could arrive in Delhi via air, rail or road. Delhi has an international airport, known as Indira Gandhi International Airport. The airport is capable to handle about 80 flights per hour. Delhi has 03 big railways stations, viz. New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. Hundreds of trains arrive and depart from these stations to various parts of India daily. You will get pre paid taxi services at all tourist destinations of the city. There are 03 interstate bus terminuses (ISBT) in the city, which are located in Kashmiri Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan.
